An epidemic of stress, overwork, waste and indebtedness caused by dogged pursuit of the American Dream. 3. An unsustainable addiction to economic growth. 4. In addition to being great literary pioneers, each was an inspiration for playwright and BCC instructor Jan Quackenbush. His four new mini-plays titled, I Love Jack Kerouac, I Love Kate Chopin, I Love Sara Pritchard and Imagine are the center of the upcoming theater production which also includes songs, live music and readings from these authors’ works.
IMAGINE, A Short One-Act Play and a Trilogy of New Mini Plays is the world premiere of these new works and performances are FRIDAY & SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 20 & 21 at 7:00 PM. Faculty and staff can attend for free on Friday evening. Cider will be served in the lobby after the performances. No children under 12 are allowed. Tickets are $6.00 and $5.00 for students.
A sample of the famous quotes you’ll hear:
JACK KEROUAC:
Whither goest thou, America, in thy shiny car in the night?
I like too many things and get all confused and hung-up running from one falling star to another till I drop.
JOHN LENNON:
You may say I’m a dreamer
But I’m not the only one
I hope someday you’ll join us
And the world will live as one
All we are saying is give peace a chance
KATE CHOPIN:
The water of the Gulf stretched out before her, gleaming with the million lights of the sun.
The voice of the sea speaks to the soul. The touch of the sea is sensuous, enfolding the body in its soft, close embrace.
SARA PRITCHARD:
You are two years old and eating a book.
The very beautiful sad elegy for Bambi’s dead mother.
