Students Participate in Taste of the Tier
The Quantity Food Production class and BCC Hotel/Restaurant Club teamed up again this year to participate in the annual Taste of the Tier for Cystic Fibrosis Event on Thursday, October 6th at the newly renovated Riverwalk Hotel on Water Street in downtown Binghamton.
Taste of the Tier is a food, beer and wine tasting fundraising event featuring the area’s best and most unique food vendors, talented chefs and their specialties. Southern Tier and Central New York restaurants, bakeries, beer distributors and wineries create their signature offerings and present them in a fun-filled evening for hundreds of participants. The event featured a live and silent auction (which BCC also contributed to), raffles and light entertainment. For 2011, the addition of a VIP Reception featured hot and cold hors d’oeuvres, wine , sweets and entertainment was established.
The mission of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, a nonprofit donor supported organization, is to assure the development of the means to cure and control cystic fibrosis and to improve the quality of life for those coping with the disease. This is the fifteenth straight year the BCC Hotel/Restaurant Program has participated in this event. Students and club members provided kitchen and dining room assistance and expertise and also prepared a tasting table of their own, featuring Chili with Baguette Cheese Rusk and Cake Ball Lollipops.
